Bude Canal
Bude Canal with water overflowing into the River Neet

Bude Canal was built in 1823 chiefly to transport sand for use as agricultural fertiliser.
The Canal system used 6 inclined planes to haul wheeled tub boats (20 feet long and 5.5 feet wide)
to the upper levels, there were only two conventional locks. It was the longest tub boat Canal built.
The main line of the canal ran , 35 miles , from Bude to Druxton Wharf near Launceston.
Following the arrival of the Railways operations ceased in 1891
