Penhale Sands are the highest dunes in Britain, rising to 90 metres, with a depth of 50 metres of sand
before rock is reached and at 650 hectares, Cornwall's largest dune system.
Formed over 5,000 years ago when sand began to build up on an exposed rocky plateau.
