'Iron Doors'
'Iron Doors'

In Peters Point is a Cave with a tunnel behind .
Iron doors were placed at the bottom of the tunnel which used to lead to the cliff top on Gwithian Towans.
The tunnel was dug to move sand from the beach to be processed at the Stream Works about a mile away
and recover the Tin Deposits.
The tunnel was subject to rockfalls and eventually the buckets on an aerial ropeway suspended from pylons
( the concrete blocks that held up the Pylons can still be found ) led down to the beach.
The 'Iron Doors' were used to keep the Tractor used on the beach.
