The Coast Path out of Kingsand gives good views over Plymouth Sound.

Plymouth Breakwater (1812) is a 1,710 yd stone breakwater protecting Plymouth Sound .
The oval masonry fort was built 1860/80 , 35 yards inside the Breakwater.
It was part of a ring of fortifications around Plymouth Sound with Fort Bovisand to the east
and Picklecombe Fort to the west.
Armed in 1879 with 16 guns in armoured casemates. Disarmed before WW1.
The Lighthouse is from 1844 , there is a beacon on the other end of the breakwater.
