Purple Dewplant is a non native plant from South Africa , a naturalised escapee .
Like the Hottentot Fig it is an invasive species growing rapidly to the exclusion of native plants.
A perennial, low-growing, carpeting, salt-tolerant, succulent , two to 30 cms high producing
wide-spreading mats of dense stems .
Small, reddish-green swollen leaves and large pinkish-purple daisy-like flowers.
March to July , up to 5cm across with two-toned petals , white at the base and bright purple at the top.
